Crisis Trainer

 

Two full-time Crisis Training positions are available under Mecklenburg’s PROMISE, Community Mental Health Recovery Collaborative, of Mecklenburg Open Door.  The positions are newly created  and are part of an initiative to reduce hospitalization of individuals with mental wellness challenges.  The Crisis Trainers will be responsible for curriculum development and facilitating trainings for providers, consumers, family members and community members on crisis prevention, community based crisis management and crisis planning.  Additional activities will include development of a DVD training library, facilitation of educational and skill building groups and development of a comprehensive crisis planning and prevention manual for Mecklenburg County.

 

Successful candidates must be North Carolina QP credentialed and have community support experience in North Carolina.  Experience with training and/or group facilitation is required and experience utilizing a strength-based, recovery approach to working with consumers and family members is a must.  Individuals with personal experience as a mental health consumer or family member are encouraged to apply.  Creativity, flexibility, energetic and good sense of humor are needed!

Recovery Trainer

 

Mecklenburg’s PROMISE is seeking a full-time Recovery Trainer for a joint position with Mecklenburg Open Door.  This position will be supervised and employed by Mecklenburg’s PROMISE and will serve as the Recovery Training expert for Mecklenburg Open Door staff, residents, and consumers.  This position will also include training responsibilities for Mecklenburg’s PROMISE Recovery Collaborative.  The Recovery Trainer will work as a team with Mecklenburg’s PROMISE staff, identifying training needs and learning existing Recovery curriculum with  opportunities to develop additional Recovery training curriculum for Mecklenburg Open Door.  Position also includes facilitation of skill building and educational groups for consumers.

Peer Support Specialist-In Training

A Peer Support Specialist is a paid employee who provides social and emotional support to consumers who are transitioning from an inpatient setting into a community. This individual will be a mentor by providing hope and encouragement, teaching life adjustment skills, and offering peer support through recovery and participation in self help groups. The role of the Peer Support Specialist is to help the person link to services and supports in the community by teaching wellness management skills. Peer Support Specialists believe that through hope and encouragement, mental health recovery is possible.

 

As the Peer Support Specialist you will receive support and encouragement from the agency as well as personal growth through the work you will be performing.  In addition, this position will engage you in a unique supportive relationship with a peer.
