Research Project

Mecklenburg's PROMISE has partnered with UNC Charlotte's Social Work Department to transform the existing mental health system from a Traditional/Medical Model of service provision, to the Recovery Model of support and empowerment. By implementing a successful mental health Recovery training curriculum in Mecklenburg County, this research project explores the connection between mental wellness and Recovery.

 

Recovery University

The education division of Mecklenburg’s PROMISE, Recovery University, offers trainings on a variety of  topics related to the Recovery Model and service provision in North Carolina including: Recovery Trainings I-VI, Toolkit Trainings, State (Endorsed) Trainings, and Crisis Planning, Prevention & Intervention.

  

Wellness Toolkit Folder

Mecklenburg's PROMISE has created a Wellness Toolkit Folder which will be distributed to every consumer receiving Adult Mental Health Community Support services in Mecklenburg County. Wellness tools are skills, resources, or activities that are needed to prevent or manage a crisis (i.e. coping activities, pictures, self-help books, poems, quotes, church pastor, best friend, etc...). Every Wellness Toolkit Folder includes:

  • Examples of two crisis plans that consumers can choose to complete and use

  • Space for a consumer's Crisis Plan

  • Space for a consumer's Person-Centered Plan

  • A pocket for the business card of the Community Support Provider/First Responder

  • A pre-printed list of crisis numbers

  • A pre-printed insert of important emergency numbers

 

Voices of Recovery

                        The Recovery Inspirer is a quaterly Recovery Newsletter that will highlight the latest research on recovery related topics, innovative programs throughout Mecklenburg Country, a spotlight on local agencies providing creative services, and consumer articles.

 

Mecklenburg's PROMISE Adult Mental Health Resource Guide 2007.1

The Adult Mental Health Resource Guide is a comprehensive collection of services, activities, supports and assistance programs available to all individuals who reside in Mecklenburg County. This document is separated into more than 23 categories, which include local, state and national resources. This guide was developed by individuals currently receiving Mental Health Services for providers, consumers and family members. 

 

Mecklenburg's PROMISE Community Support Recovery Toolkit 2007.1

The Mecklenburg Community Support Recovery Toolkit serves as a comprehensive guide and “how to" manual for community support providers in Mecklenburg County, ensuring that they provide services and supports in accordance with the principles of Recovery based “best practices” and in compliance with North Carolina and Mecklenburg County guidelines and regulations.
